Concept Design and Development, Fall Womenswear

There is a collective feeling of vulnerability, as a nation and a world.  In the chaos of modern times, people are craving calm, comfort, protection.

This fall season concept is about the urge to cover up and curl up under blankets of soft, warm, and textured fabrics. Create clothing that reflects that feeling.  Fabrications are cotton, felt, wool, tweed, silk crepe, double faced viscose and soft leather.

Visual influences come from artists like Joseph Beuys – his felt suit and beeswax, and Eva Hesse - her soft pencil sketches, warm ochre tones and simple organic forms.

Design details include soft tie waist closures, oversized shapes, tailored wool blazers, and big wide collars.  Trims are tactile and natural, like buttons made of leather, suede, and horn.  Clasps, buckles, and zippers are used for an added sense of security.

The color palette is inspired by the colors of brewed teas.  It’s a warm and neutral palette. The base colors are charcoal grey, cream, and tan. Additional colors are dark fig, pale rose, faded olive, and washed slate blue.
