Visual Art - Concept - Design
Hope was born in Iowa, to her Nigerian father and American mother. Her mother taught her to sew at a young age, and by high school she was making her own clothes. She started by altering her mother’s vintage clothing, then bought her own fabric and pinned it around her body to create designs. She first attended Iowa State University for two years majoring in Apparel Design and Fine Art. She then transferred to Parsons School of Design and moved to New York.
She began her career by interning for threeAsFour and Robert Geller. Over the years she has worked with a wide range of companies from small designer brands to iconic global brands. Notably, she has worked for Gap, J.Crew, Madewell, Marc Jacobs, Converse, and Tory Burch. She has a deep understanding of design and a wealth of experience working in the industry in womenswear, menswear and accessories.
Functionality, originality, comfort, and movement combined with modern silhouettes and sophisticated fabrics, are the frame work of her design aesthetic. She sees fashion as a tool for self-expression and cultural representation.
A recent MFA graduate from UC Santa Barbara, she continues to evolve her career by creating fiber art and sculpture, with reasearch into traditional craft and textile techniques. Currently based in Los Angeles, CA.
